What I missed most during COVID was the ability to get together and play music with friends out in the world. I’m glad that finally this is ending, and that my students and me are gradually regrowing musical roots in the community.
Last fall was the first time I got my students back out performing for the community, when members of my course Pedagogies of Improvisation in Music Learning went out to Hong Kong’s premier rock venue The Wanch. The sing-along was profiled in the online EdUHK magazine FLASS Forward, with some great quotes from the students.
I was also asked to edit a quick video profile as part of the departmental sharing of teaching and pedagogy, which can be seen here:
